TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX-listed Uranium Energy Corp (UEC) on Monday announced that it had appointed industry veteran Scott Melbye executive VP with immediate effect.

Melbye has 30 years of experience in the nuclear energy industry, having held leadership positions in major uranium mining companies as well as industry-wide organisations.

He was previously the executive VP for marketing with Uranium One, responsible for global uranium sales activities.

Before that, Melbye spent 22 years with the Cameco group of companies, both in the Saskatoon head office and with the group's US subsidiaries. He had last served as president of Cameco, the subsidiary responsible for marketing and trading activities with annual sales exceeding 30-million pounds of yellow cake.

Melbye is currently the chairperson of the Board of Governors of the World Nuclear Fuel Market, president of the Uranium Producers of America and VP commercial for Uranium Participation Corporation.
