JSE-listed logistics and transport group OneLogix has strengthened its harbour presence with the acquisition of a majority stake in established Durban-based handling company Andre Niemand, which would be rebranded as OneLogix Projex Cargo Solutions.

CEO Ian Lourens said on Thursday that Andre Niemand’s extensive warehouse in the Durban harbour would offer OneLogix Projex – the group’s abnormal load specialist – the necessary infrastructure and facilities to expand its product offering.

Lourens said the facilities offered by Andre Niemand were currently outsourced by OneLogix Projex at “significant cost”.

“Andre Niemand holds a long-term lease with State logistics group Transnet for 11 500 m2 of property and warehousing services, which includes loading facilities and vehicles, onsite overhead gantry cranes and a railway siding. In addition, it has large warehouses in Cape Town and Pinetown,” he commented.

The company said in a statement that it intended to continue acquiring small entrepreneurial businesses.
