JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Gold production from dual-listed Caledonia Mining’s Blanket mine, in Zimbabwe, during the first quarter ended March 31, increased by 14% from 9 155 oz in the first quarter of 2012 to 10 463 oz.

This came on the back of an achieved daily rate of production that was slightly ahead of target.

Final gold production for the quarter was, however, subject to minor revisions following the receipt of final assays for the last two deliveries to South Africa’s Rand Refinery.

“Gold production reported in the quarter reflected production up to the cut-off on March 26, as a result of public holidays around Easter. Therefore, the production only reflects 84 working days,” Caledonia president and CEO Stefan Hayden added.
