Schneider Electric launches Uniflair XCA chiller line for AI data centres

Schneider Electric has introduced the Uniflair XCA series of air-cooled and free-cooling chillers designed for high-density, liquid-cooled AI data centres. The line features oil-free centrifugal compressors with magnetic bearing technology, six sizes ranging from 1 200 kW to 2 500 kW, and uses low-GWP refrigerants; free-cooling models can achieve up to 60% energy savings compared to mechanical cooling alone in moderate climates.

Supply chain sustainability becomes competitive imperative for South African exporters

South African companies face mounting pressure to track and reduce Scope 3 emissions, which account for 70% to 90% of total emissions according to the Carbon Disclosure Project, as EU regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive demand verifiable data. Schneider Electric's Zero Carbon supply chain initiative achieved a 56% reduction in the operational carbon footprint of its top 1 000 suppliers by the end of 2025, five years after launch.

Digital twins and virtualised building systems reshape infrastructure delivery

Schneider Electric is promoting digital twin technology and cloud-ready building management systems to address infrastructure project delays and fragmented building operations across sub-Saharan Africa. Virtual commissioning allows engineering teams to validate control logic and test failure scenarios before construction, while modern BMS platforms integrate HVAC, lighting, security and energy monitoring to deliver real-time operational visibility and energy savings of up to 60% in automated hotel rooms.
