Global energy technology specialist Schneider Electric has announced the launch of its EasyPact CVS C4 moulded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) range in East Africa, which the company says will help address a gap in the region’s electrical distribution landscape.

The product was first introduced to the market with protection capacity of up to 630A, and the new range extends this to cover applications up to 1600A. It is designed to offer reliable protection against electrical faults that can cause equipment damage or fire risks.

Tailored for residential developments, commercial buildings and small to medium-sized industries, the company says the extension aims to ensure that segments historically underserved by existing solutions now benefit from a broader, standards-compliant option.

“Previously, we had a single offering that had to serve vastly different applications, from residential estates to hospitals and data centres,” explains Schneider Electric offer manager: power products East Africa Ryan Mwanthi. “But the reality is that these environments have very different levels of criticality and performance requirements.”

“With EasyPact CVS, we are closing that gap. We are now able to offer a solution that is fit for purpose, delivering the right level of protection, reliability and functionality without overengineering.”

Key benefits include:

  • Enhanced safety: Certified for isolation in accordance with IEC 60947-2, with positive contact indication and lockable OFF positions to support safe maintenance operations.
  • Proven reliability: High electrical and mechanical endurance, combined with robust performance in extreme temperatures, humidity and industrial conditions.
  • Ease of use: Common, snap-fit accessories and simplified configurations reduce installation time and complexity.
  • Operational continuity: Continuous-rated accessories and fault-indication features support system uptime and fast responses to issues.
  • Flexibility: Suitable for Class II switchboards and designed for both copper and aluminium connections, enabling broad application compatibility.

Beyond technical performance, the range enables expanded access to Schneider Electric technology across more segments of the market.

“Ultimately, it is about giving customers choice, whether they need a premium solution for critical infrastructure or a reliable, cost-effective option for standard applications. EasyPact CVS allows us to meet both needs with confidence,” concludes Mwanthi.
