Name of the Project
Browse to NWS project.

Location
The project envisages the development of the Calliance, Brecknock and Torosa conventional natural gasfields in the offshore Browse basin, about 425 km north of Broome, in Western Australia.

Project Owner/s
Browse Joint Venture (BJV), which comprises Woodside Energy (operator), bp Developments Australia, Japan Australia LNG (MIMI Browse) and PetroChina International Investment.

Project Description
The project could contribute to energy security in Western Australia and in the Asia Pacific region, with a forecast production capacity of 11.4-million tonnes a year of liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and domestic gas, and a peak condensate production rate of 50 000 bbl/d.

The planned project includes two floating production storage and offloading facilities, and an estimated 900 km pipeline to the NWS project’s existing infrastructure in Karratha.

This will keep the Karratha gas plant operating.

A carbon capture and storage solution has also been incorporated into the offshore design and is expected to allow for a reduction of 53-million tonnes of CO2-equivalent of greenhouse-gas emissions.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create 4 760 direct and indirect full-time equivalent jobs across Australia at peak operations.

Capital Expenditure
A$48.7-billion.
