Project Description
Ummbila Emoyeni has been designated as a Strategic Integrated Project by the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.

The initial 155 MW wind energy facility is the first phase of a larger, almost 900 MW renewable-energy cluster, which comprises 750 MW of wind energy facilities and 150 MW of solar photovoltaic plants. Once built, the wind farm will transform more than 75% of the energy consumption from Seriti’s existing coal operations into renewable energy while helping to mitigate its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse-gas emissions.

Planned Start/End Date
Concluding the power purchase agreement and meeting all the conditions necessary to start construction, which includes reaching financial close on the project, are expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2023. The power supply is expected to come on line in 2025.
