The first two completed office buildings in the new “all-green”  Bridgeways commercial precinct on the corner of Ratanga Road and Century Boulevard at Century City have been awarded Green Star SA Office V1 Design, Ratings from the Green Building Council of South Africa.

The two buildings each of around 3800m2 comprise offices for Philip Morris South Africa and The Business Centre. Both buildings have now also been  submitted to the Green Building Council of South Africa for a Green Star SA Office V1 As Built Rating,  which if successful will make them the first at Century City to be rated as such.

The Business Centre was completed in October last year and No 3 Bridgeways, the new home of Philip Morris, was handed over in December. Both buildings were designed by Vivid Architects and are managed by Rabie Property Administrators. The buildings are situated just across from the new MyCiTi bus station.

This brings to three the number of office buildings at Century City that have achieved a Green Star Rating. The first to do so was the Aurecon building which in fact was the first in the country to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Rating in the Design Category. Steve Cloete, project manager of developers Rabie Property Group, responsible for all three “green” buildings, said it was their intention to develop the Bridgeways precinct as an entirely green precinct of approximately 150 000 square metres of premium grade offices. “As far as we are aware this will make it the largest green precinct in the country.”
