PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Coal hopeful Tiaro Coal has launched a prefeasibility study (PFS) for the T9 West project, in Queensland.

The study was based on the current Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 87-million tonnes, and would result in a comprehensive assessment of the project, Tiaro said.

Tiaro subsidiary Paragon Coal has previously identified additional coal surrounding the T9 West area, but this coal had not been considered in the initial mine plan.

Xenith Consulting, which has previously completed a review of the T9 West area and prepared an initial mine plan, would undertake the PFS, while a number of other consultants would assist, including Sedgman, which would undertake the coal handling and preparation plant prefeasibility work.
