JSE-listed Telkom on Monday appointed Len de Villiers chief information officer, as of November 1, as the group created new positions to propel its turnaround.

Telkom, which crafted a new leadership structure and filled the positions of chief operations officer with Dr Brian Armstrong and head of strategy with Dr Miriam Altman, still planned to appoint a chief marketing officer and a chief procurement officer.

“The process of building a winning team is gaining momentum and I am confident that we will soon have a capable and dedicated team in place to lead Telkom’s turnaround, put us on a firm footing to compete effectively in a demanding marketplace and reach our ultimate objective, which is to restore our leadership position in the telecommunications sector,” said group CEO Sipho Maseko in a statement.
