TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Canadian miner Sierra Metals has appointed former Largo Resources president and CEO Mark Brennan its new president and CEO, effective from Monday.

Brennan replaced Audra Walsh, whose resignation was announced earlier the same day.

Brennan had 30 years of financing and operating experience in North America and Europe. Most recently, he was instrumental in facilitating Largo’s acquisition of its flagship Maracas vanadium project, in 2006, leading Largo's team in advancing the project through the completion of its maiden resource and definitive feasibility study in 2008, and playing an integral role in raising about $300-million in financing for the project in 2012. During his tenure as president and CEO of Largo the Maracas project was constructed and started production in 2014.

Sierra Metals was focused on producing precious and base metals from its Yauricocha mine, in Peru, and its Bolivar and Cusi mines, in Mexico. The company also owned several precious and base metal targets in the two countries.
