In welcoming the transition from lockdown Level 4 to Level 3, organised business immediately recognised that the pressure was now on its members to prove that the easing they had long sought could be implemented safely. Business Unity South Africa president Sipho Pityana said it was critical that businesses, big and small, played their part in ensuring workplaces were “corona-ready”, while Business for South Africa’s Martin Kingston stressed the need for the nonpharmaceutical interventions of mask wearing, hand washing and sanitising, as well as physical distancing, to become “second nature” for every individual and every organisation.
