SA to host WEF on Africa this year
South Africa was expected to host the twenty-third World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa from May 8 to 10 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
The forum, themed ‘Delivering on Africa’s Promise’, would focus on the continent’s economic growth and development, examining the challenges of strengthening the continent’s competitiveness, creating inclusive and sustainable growth, accelerating infrastructure development and economic diversification, besides others.
The event was aimed at providing an open platform for global and regional business, banking, government, civil society and academia leaders, besides others, to “engage deeply” on the continent’s opportunities.
The agenda included three anchor topics, namely accelerating economic diversification, boosting strategic infrastructure and unlocking Africa’s talent.
Last year, Ethiopia hosted the twenty-second forum, in Addis Ababa, which focused on leadership, innovation and shared opportunities, as well as increasing investment in frontier markets.
