RocketNet connects customers awaiting fibre with first LTE roaming solution

RocketNet, one of South Africa’s fastest ISPs, according to My Broadband May 2022, is assisting clients with connection to the internet while waiting for fibre installation.
The innovation comes at a time when users may be battling with connectivity but where being connected is a necessity.
“Connectivity is more vital now than ever. Our personal and work lives intersect through online activities, and a fast, secure connection has become more than a luxury. Considering this, we created a way to relieve pressure on the already over-loaded consumer by getting them connected as soon as possible”, said Simon Swanepoel, CEO of RocketNet.
When a customer signs up with RocketNet and is awaiting fibre installation, RocketNet will deliver an LTE router to their home, at no additional cost to the customer. Speeds are network dependent, are not limited or throttled in any way and can be used to keep up with demands of remote working, whether for a client deadline or a school project.
“We want to make it easy for customers to deal with us. We are continually innovating ways to give our customers the best internet experience possible. This starts when they first reach out to us, to us getting them connected”, said Warren Thomas, Chief of Sales and Marketing at RocketNet.
LTE connectivity runs on existing MNO (Mobile Network Operator) infrastructure to carry data and traffic, but utilises the RocketNet core network for routing and internet services. Furthermore, the router acts as a fail-over. If a customer’s fibre is interrupted, they can switch to the SIM router and keep connected. Although the router is not battery powered, customers can use the SIM card in a compatible smartphone.
“We trust the value-added services we make available have a positive impact on people’s lives. We love to invest in infrastructure that grows our business, eases the burden on the customer and delivers a great internet experience”, concluded Swanepoel.
