Technology companies Powerfleet and CTRLFleet used the Transport Evolution Africa Forum and Expo in Midrand to highlight the growing role of digital solutions in improving transport and logistics operations across Africa.
Speaking to Engineering News, Powerfleet Africa GM for Enterprise Africa and the Middle East Steven Sutherland said the company specialises in vehicle telematics, health and safety solutions, AI-enabled video technology and data intelligence platforms for transport operators, governments and port authorities.
Sutherland said events such as Transport Evolution Africa provide an important platform for industry stakeholders to collaborate on addressing transport challenges across the continent.
He noted that many transport systems remain fragmented, limiting the value that can be achieved from digital technologies. Greater collaboration between technology providers and industry participants would help create integrated ecosystems capable of delivering improved efficiencies and operational performance.
CTRLFleet cofounder and expansion and strategy lead for South Africa Renko Bergh said digitalisation was becoming increasingly important as transport operators seek to improve efficiency and optimise their businesses.
The company develops technology solutions for the transport and logistics sector, helping operators digitise processes and improve execution.
Bergh said one of the biggest challenges facing operators is navigating the growing number of technology options available in the market and identifying which solutions are best suited to their businesses.
He encouraged transport operators to begin their digital transformation journeys, noting that a wide range of world-class technologies are already available to support the industry's growth and development.
