Blue Label Telecoms, in conjunction with online partner Prepaid24, has launched a new mobile app to enable users to recharge electricity and airtime on the go and at any time.

The Prepaid24 Mobile App, which is available for Android, Blackberry or Windows device users, comprised features such as reminders to purchase electricity and airtime, information on the tariff structure of local municipalities and a facility to view graphical representations of electricity consumption.

The new app also boasted an Emergency Electricity Tokens feature, which enabled users to retrieve prepaid tokens from a “virtual safe” on the app, as opposed to the standard email or SMS, when the systems of vendors, municipalities or power utility Eskom were off-line.

“More than 90% of our support queries originate from clients running out of electricity while their municipality’s vending system is off-line. When this happens, there is nothing any vendor (reseller) can do to assist a client with his or her purchase,” explained Prepaid24 business architect Ben Lindeque.
