Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSA) says the second generation seven-seater mu-X sports-utility vehicle will be launched in South Africa later this year.

“The upcoming Isuzu mu-X is a game changer for us, as it offers class-leading driver assistance technology, new state-of-the art powertrains, and a luxurious interior designed for maximum comfort for seven occupants,” says IMSA technical operations senior VP Dominic Rimmer.

“We are steadily on track to launch the next generation mu-X in South Africa,” he adds.

“Vehicle testing was conducted successfully in late 2020, and we continue to test the vehicle under a number of conditions to ensure it is suitably prepared for South African conditions.”

The mu-X is manufactured at Isuzu’s Samrong vehicle assembly facility, in Thailand.

The vehicle will be fully imported into South Africa for sale to the local, as well as all other right-hand drive markets in Africa.

IMSA says pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.
