JSE-listed MTN Group has appointed Gordian Kyomukama as the new CEO of MTN South Sudan, effective January 21.

Lily Zondo, acting CEO over the past few months, will resume her role as CFO with immediate effect.

Kyomukama, who has nearly 30 years of telecommunications experience, mostly with MTN, started his career at MTN Uganda as part of the pioneer team, has undertaken secondment opportunities in Rwanda, Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire and served as MTN Liberia chief technology and information officer.

Meanwhile, MTN Cameroon CEO Hendrik Kasteel has announced plans to step down at the end of March for personal reasons.

He will serve out his notice over the next two months, and a successor will be announced when the appointment is finalised.
