According to Mintek’s General Manager: Business development, Peter Craven, Mintek remains at the forefront of the latest developments in gold processing technology, thanks to state-funded research.

Speaking at the Gold Day event Mintek recently hosted at its Randburg campus, Craven said that there is a need to expand interaction between industry and Mintek to ensure that Mintek’s research focuses on real industry needs and priorities.

“The mining industry must use Mintek for the benefit of the industry,” he advised. “The government funded research at Mintek is paid for by taxpayers, therefore the mining industry should view themselves as shareholders in the research being done and take greater ownership of the process.”

The Gold Day event was done with the intention to enhance the communication between Mintek and the mining industry. The event comprised a series of presentations, site visits and panel discussions.

The delegation of over 100 participants was shown around Mintek facilities and was taken to visit the new state-of-the-art continuous pressure oxidation pilot plant
