Project Description
The LRT Line 1, which serves 20 stations along its 20 km route, has had an increase in its daily ridership from 400 000 to more than 500 000.
The project involves the upgrade and extension of the LRT Line 1 of the Manila metro through the construction of 12 km of railway lines and eight stations. Once the extension has been completed, the LRT Line 1 will transport about 800 000 passengers a day.
Value
The contract is worth around €450-million.
Duration
The extended line is scheduled to enter into commercial service in 2020.
Latest Developments
LRMC has awarded Alstom and Bouygues Travaux Publics a contract to upgrade and extend the LRT Line 1.
Alstom will provide an integrated metro solution, which includes a signalling and communication system, traction power supply and track work on the 12 km extended line, including one new depot and the extension of the existing depot. Alstom will also equip 60 trains with Atlas 100 on-board signalling solutions and revamp the signalling system for the existing 20 km line.
