Project Description
The power plant, in the Centre region of the Nyong-et-Kelle department, will generate about 400 MW of electricity, enabling the production of more than 1 600 GWh/y, which will provide power for an additional six-million people.
Value
Platinum Power plans to invest about $845.87-million in the project.
Duration
Construction is expected to start in 2017 and the plant is expected to come into operation at the end of 2020.
Latest Developments
A development framework agreement was signed between Cameroon and Platinum Power in July.
This agreement, within the framework of a public–private partnership, focuses on the development, financing, construction and operations of the Makay hydroelectric power plant and the associated electric transmission infrastructures.
