TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – On the heels of announcing the recovery of the world’s second-largest diamond, Canadian miner Lucara Diamond Corp on Thursday revealed that it had recovered another two large diamonds, including an 813 ct stone, from its flagship Karowe mine, in Botswana.

"I am truly at a loss for words. This has been an amazing week for Lucara with the recovery of the second-largest and also the sixth-largest gem-quality diamonds ever mined. We are truly blessed by this amazing asset,” president and CEO William Lamb commented.

The two exceptional white stones were recovered through the X-ray transmission diamond recovery units. The two diamonds, weighing 813 ct and 374 ct, had been added to the roster of large diamonds recovered from the prolific south lobe of the mine.

Lucara noted that the weights of the diamonds were subject to change as these stones had not yet been cleaned.

The Vancouver-based company on Wednesday revealed that it had recovered a 1 111 ct stone, second only to the 3 106 ct diamond found in the Premier mine, in South Africa, in 1905.

On the back of the positive announcements, Lucara's TSX-listed stock on Thursday climbed as much as 37% to a high of C$2.20 apiece.
