LNG Canada, a joint venture (JV) between Shell Canada Energy (50%), PetroChina (20%), Korea Gas Corporation (15%) and Mitsubishi Corporation (15%).

Project Description
The proposed LNG Canada facility will be located on 350 ha to 400 ha in the industrial area of Kitimat, in British Columbia, incorporating the former Methanex site. The project is planned as a phased development, initially comprising two processing trains, each with a production capacity of about six-million tonnes a year of LNG, with the possibility of adding two trains.

Fully built, the facility will include:
• a natural gas receiving and an LNG production facility;
• a marine terminal, with the capacity to hold two LNG carriers of between 140 000 m3 and 265 000 m3;
• a tugboat dock;
• four processing units or trains;
• LNG storage tanks and LNG loading lines that connect the storage tanks to the wharf;
• roads required primarily during construction and for maintenance;
• a material offloading facility, primarily for use during construction; and
• supporting infrastructure and facilities that include power and water supply, as well as handling and waste collection and treatment.

Value
The project has been estimated by the Bank of Nova Scotia at $14.4-billion or more.

Latest Developments
The JV partners have selected CFSW LNG Constructors as the main contractor for the proposed LNG export terminal.

CFSW LNG Constructors is a partnership between Chiyoda, Foster Wheeler, Saipem and WorleyParsons.

The contract covers front-end engineering and design, as well as project execution services, subject to a final investment decision by LNG Canada.
