PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Lithium hunter Liontown Resources has been granted consent by the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs to start drilling at the Kathleen Valley lithium project, in Western Australia.

The company on Wednesday told shareholders that it would now lodge a programme of works with the Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety for a reverse circulation drilling programme, which would be undertaken as soon as practicable.

Subject to the final receipt of these approvals, drilling is likely to start in early 2018.

The Kathleen Valley project comprises 15 granted mining leases and one exploration licence application covering some 75 km2. Liontown has previously defined two prospects on the tenements, where multiple spodumene-bearing pegmatites with high-grade lithium were present.
