Water heating systems manufacturer Kwikot will expand its products range into heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), as it moves to become a smart energy systems provider.

Heating, cooling and hot water are parts of a single, interconnected energy ecosystem. The convergence of technologies, from smart controls to hybrid energy systems, is reshaping how buildings consume and manage energy, with efficiency and resilience being increasingly interconnected, the company says.

The future lies in systems that combine heat, data and design to optimise performance across the home and Kwikot is aligning with this shift by extending its expertise into temperature-control solutions that complement its existing water heating technologies.

Kwikot’s approach focuses on integration. Smarter heating and cooling systems that work in tandem with water heating will improve overall energy efficiency and make homes and businesses more adaptable.

Further, systems designed to optimise energy use will help households and businesses to manage rising tariffs better, and a more unified approach reduces the complexity for installers and end-users, Kwikot says.

South Africans are increasingly seeking energy-efficient alternatives that balance comfort with affordability and sustainability, it adds.

The company, which was acquired by Chinese appliance multinational Haier Smart Home in 2024, has steadily evolved from traditional electric geysers to a portfolio that includes solar water heating, heat pumps and smart, solar-ready systems.

All the systems were designed to reduce pressure on the grid while improving everyday reliability.

This expansion into HVAC systems builds on this trajectory, and is supported by access to advanced appliance technology from Haier and through collaboration with its parent company's international manufacturing expertise, it says.

Kwikot’s expansion into HVAC systems signals a broader shift from a focus on single-product solutions to integrated systems that are designed for the realities of modern energy use, it says.

The next phase of the energy transition will be defined by how efficiently millions of homes and businesses use energy every day; from hot water to indoor climate control, the company says.
