Location
The project is located in the Splügen region, in the Swiss canton of Grisons.
The small hydropower plant, with a high head of water, will use the Hüscherabach stream, which flows into the Hinterrhein river near Splügen.

Project Description
The new, state-of-the-art power plant will replace the old plant, which was built in the 1930s, and will increase the production of renewable, domestic energy by a factor of almost six.
Energy generation will increase from 1.1-million kilowatt hours a year to about 6.1-million kilowatt hours a year, which corresponds to the average yearly consumption of about 1 500 households.
The high-pressure plant comprises a water catchment area, a 2 240 m penstock and the power station, which will house a 1.9 MW Pelton turbine.
