Project Description
The project entails the development of three solar PV power plants – Pacifico I, and Choluteca I and II, with an aggregate capacity of 78.6 MW, in Choluteca.
Pacifico I will have a nominal installed capacity of 23 MWp and generate 52 GWh/y.
The Choluteca I and II plants will have a combined capacity of 58 MWp and generate 112 GWh/y.
The three projects will be connected to the Santa Lucia substation using two dedicated 34.5 kV single-pole transmission lines.
Pacifico I’s transmission line will be 4 km long, with right of way of 15 m, while Choluteca I and II will share a 7 km transmission line, with the same right-of-way width. The last 500 m of the two transmission lines will be underground.

Duration
Construction of the plants is expected to start late in 2014 and be completed by the first quarter of 2015.
Latest Developments
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is considering debt financing of up to $62.5-million to support the execution of the project.
In parallel, the IFC is considering providing an additional $91.5-million by enlisting the participant banks and co-investments from the Clean Technology Fund and the IFC/Canada Climate Change Programme.
