Project Description
The dam will be 115 m high and provide more than 5.6-billion cubic meters of water to irrigate about 162 000 ha while generating up to 1 000 MW  of hydropower.

The reservoir will be 2.5 km long and have a surface area of about 165 km2.

The dam will not only be Africa’s second-largest freshwater dam, after the Aswan dam, in Egypt, but also the single-biggest government undertaking aimed at significantly addressing the perennial challenges of food security, water and electricity.
