Grinding media manufacturing plant, Tema, Ghana.

Client
Scaw Metals Group, in partnership with South African company the Guma Group, and the Jospong Group of Companies, which is based in Ghana.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a new 50 000 t/y grinding media plant, in Tema.

The new grinding plant will produce grinding media in sizes ranging from 38 mm to 76 mm, with the larger sizes still to be imported from South Africa.

If demand for larger sizes increases, adapting the plant to also produce larger sizes will be the next step for Scaw.

$40-million.

Duration
Construction on the plant is expected to start in early 2014 and to become operational within 18 months.

Latest Developments
More than 100 jobs are expected to be created in the construction phase, with 42 direct jobs to be created once the plant is operational.
