Getting It Right

20th September 2013

The article entitled ‘Research Push’, which was published on page 25 of the September 13 edition of Mining Weekly, contains a few errors. The statement that “Micromine uses 30% of its profits from yearly licence fees for research and development” should have read: “A significant percentage of its profits from yearly licence renewal fees and software sales is used for research and development (R&D).” Micromine conducts R&D at its branches in China, Kazakhstan and Australia – the article omits Kazakhstan but erroneously includes Mongolia. The third paragraph should read: “Micromine has received three research grants totalling A$11-million from the Australian government, one of which was the largest ever to be awarded to a mining software company.” These errors are regretted.
