Project Description
The Forrestfield-Airport link will connect the eastern suburbs of Perth with the existing suburban rail network, as well as the airport.
The link is expected to generate 20 000 passenger trips a day on the network. It will also reduce road traffic and travelling times.
The project will include three stations, twin-bored tunnels, three emergency egress shafts and parking spaces.
Each tunnel will be 8 km long, with an internal diameter 6.17 m and excavation diameter of 7 m, for which two tunnel boring machines have been specifically designed.
