Electric linear actuator opens the door for Industry 4.0
A new electric intelligent linear actuator for high-range force output is said to be ideal for processes that depend on 100% running time, such as industrial, chemical and power applications.
The actuator offers an all-in-one intelligent package for applications with opening/closing forces from 15/3380 pound-force (lbf) to 30 kN or 6750 lbf.
CIRCOR International asserts that its RTK REact EQ-L electric intelligent linear actuator opens the door for Industry 4.0 functionality and flexibility for multiple signal exchange systems in open digital protocols for process automation. Corrosion-resistant variants have been specially designed for offshore applications.
Outfitted with RTK’s optimised REpos digital positioner, the actuator offers data logging functions and remote control through Profibus or CANopen. Using field device notification of diagnostic status, the actuator aims to allow users to conduct timely, status-based interventions to promote higher system availability and reduced maintenance costs.
The company explains that the brushless DC motor system offers high force and allows for the delivery of up to 60% energy savings compared to synchronous drives. Other potential cost-saving features include over-force protection to prevent damage to the valve and actuator, reduction in maintenance owing to 100% running time and external light-emitting diodes indicating actuating direction to facilitate monitoring. Also included is a smart controller with adjustable and selectable preset speeds.
Approved for protection rating IP 66 and NEMA 4x, CE design and NRTL certification, REact EQ-L’s single gear unit-motor combination offers three different open/close force outputs, setup options for worldwide voltage inputs and actuator protocols and different speeds for different applications with only one motor and one gearbox.
