PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Doray Minerals has increased the resource inventory at its Andy Well gold mine, in Western Australia, by 75 000 oz, replacing the first year of production.

In its latest resource and reserve estimate, Doray reported that the mineral resource at Andy Well now stood at 1.27-million tonnes, grading 10.8 g/t gold for 440 000 oz of contained gold.

The revised resource included the re-estimation of the Wilber Lode deposit, incorporating an increased understanding of the orebody. Additionally, the high-grade Judy Lode resource was also converted into an initial ore reserve, and replaced the first year of underground production from the Wilber Lode.

Total ore reserves at Andy Well were estimated at 797 000 t, grading 8.6 g/t gold for 220 000 oz of contained gold.

Doray MD Allan Kelly said on Thursday that the updated reserve and resource estimate supported the company’s belief that with systematic exploration, production at Andy Well would continue to be extended well beyond the initial mine life indicated in the project’s bankable feasibility study.

“I am pleased that, despite our strong focus on development and production over the past year and a fairly modest near-mine exploration programme, we managed to replace the first year’s underground production at Andy Well and identify a number of opportunities for further near-term expansion,” Kelly said.
