WiseTech Global, the technology development company behind supply chain solution CargoWise One, announced in October that it had joined forces with Johannesburg-based operational software systems provider Core Freight to provide a more powerful and comprehensive solution for South African logistics providers.
Core Freight says its union with WiseTech Global ensures that it will be able to continue providing the best solutions for its customers. The company further notes that the technological demands in the global logistics industry are increasing rapidly, which means the company needs to increase its investment and deploy a wider range of functionalities for Core Freight to remain world class.
Core Freight and WiseTech Global have been working together to integrate WiseTech Global’s supply chain solution, CargoWise One, with Core Freight’s existing system, which will be released this year.
In the medium term, CargoWise One will feature a new, embedded South African Customs module for its customers. However, the existing Core Freight software will continue to be maintained for the foreseeable future to facilitate the ongoing operation of its customers’ businesses.
“Our focus and investment in South Africa represents a significant commitment to raise the service level of our European, Middle Eastern and African customers through our commitment to South Africa. It is our plan to grow our staff numbers to more than 200 information technology personnel and to put our South African offices at the heart of our global support and development strategy,” says WiseTech Global CEO and founder Richard White.
Meanwhile, recognising the importance of staff members’ job satisfaction when it comes to the success of a business, WiseTech Global is looking to secure modern premises in or around the fast-growing Waterfall precinct, located between Sandton and Pretoria. This will give WiseTech Global employees, including all Core Freight staff, easy access to a range of offices, shopping, transport, accommodation and living options in a modern, secure and vibrant environment.
Customers who operate both globally and locally, whether big or small, will have increased access to automation and productivity improvements; exposure to modern, world-class systems; broad comprehensive functionality, with the ability to scale and grow into many new and exciting logistics operations; and sales, management and financial capabilities, using as much as or as little as they feel suits their needs.
