Construction Materials

Upstream from its construction and maintenance business, Colas operates in the production, distribution, sales and recycling of construction materials (emulsions, modified binders, asphalt mixes) through its extensive regional net-work of emulsion factories, asphalt plants, recycling units and bitumen terminals. Colas supplies the full range of bituminous binder pro-ducts for road surfacing, including bitumen emulsions, penetration grade bitumen, cutback bitumens, modified binders, bitumen rubber and cold applied polymer-modified emulsions.

Bitumen

Through our strategically placed storage facilities, Colas can offer continuous supply during planned and unplanned refinery shutdown periods, including import capabilities if required. Colas offers the full range of bitumen logistics and currently moves bitumen to several different countries along the East and West Coasts of Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. Logistical options include bulk road tankers, bitutainers, drummed bitumen and hot bulk shipments.

Road Maintenance

Colas offers a range of products and services to support flexible pavement needs during its life cycle. Our construction and maintenance services include binder delivery, asphalt milling and paving, chip and spray sealing, microsurfacing, in-situ recycling, enrichment treatments, crack sealing and line marking. Our support services range from slurry mix and chip seal design to testing of materials. Colas has the capability to manage surfacing construction projects, long-term maintenance and asset management contracts.

Specialised Solutions and Innovation

Colas is a global leader in the development of new surfacing technology, as well as a supplier of a wide range of unique solutions, including cold mix technologies. A legacy of firsts, from inventing path-breaking bitumen emulsion processes in 1929, to inventing the world’s first photovoltaic road surfacing in 2015. Colas is always at the forefront of innovation.
