The City of Johannesburg’s power entity, City Power, recently launched a mobile application to further enhance engagement with its customers, thus taking the city’s commitment to providing its stakeholders with constant, regular and up-to-date information to another level.

By registering on the app, City Power customers will be able to log their faults as well as view open faults, load-shedding schedules, planned outages and other related information about power supply in Johannesburg.

Before the app was launched, it was tested by City Power engineers and information and communication technologists to assess its efficiency and reliability.

City Power information and communication technology head Aubrey Mochela says the app was designed to interlink with Maruwa Jozi, a mobile app the city has adopted as a primary mobile platform to communicate with customers and other stakeholders.

“The app will allow customers, through their smartphones, to have easy access to information on load-shedding, load limiting and possible power outages,” Mochela says in a statement.

Customers who want to use the app are advised to log onto www.citypower.co.za or download it from the Google app store.
