Project Description
The Christina Lake region is currently the focus of a phased oil-sands development.

This multiphased project is located 150 km south of Fort McMurray, in north-east Alberta. It comprises about 200 km2 of oil sands leases and this steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) operation was designed to produce an initial 25 000 bbl/d.

Phase 1 began producing at a design capacity of 3 000 bbl/d in 2008. This was quickly followed with Phase 2 in 2009, with 22 000 bbl/d in incremental production capacity.

Phase 2B will result in 35 000 bbl/d in additional production capacity.

Phase 3 is a multiphased project that proposes to add an additional 150 000 bbl/d of production capacity.

When all phases come on stream, the project is expected to produce about 210 000 bbl/d.
