Multinational energy corporation Chevron has signed a three-year master products and service agreement with engineering and construction group SNC-Lavalin for the 2017 turnaround work at Chevron’s oil refinery, in Cape Town.

The scope of work included in the service agreement covers routine maintenance services, turnaround and regeneration work, as well as both capital and field projects.

SNC-Lavalin’s Kentz Field Operations team is currently preparing for Chevron’s February 2017 shutdown, which is the first scope of work defined within the agreement.

The construction group will provide all the mechanical works within Area B, including crude and vacuum units, which involves piping spool fabrication and installation, pressure vessel repairs and modifications, as well as the hydrotesting of spools and vessels.

“Chevron is one of our key clients within the African region, as well as many other locations around the world and we are delighted to be awarded this contract, which reaffirms our position within the sustaining capital market in Southern Africa,” says SNC-Lavalin oil and gas senior regional executive Stuart Kent.

Chevron South Africa’s crude oil refinery in Cape Town produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gas and other products for South Africa. It also exports to other African countries. The refinery has a crude oil input capacity of 110 000 bbl/d.
