The project is a joint venture between Sasol New Energy (49%) and Electricidade de Moçambique or EDM (51%).

Project Description
The CTRG power plant, located in Ressano Garcia, represents Mozambique's first permanent large-scale gas-to-power facility.

The project involved the construction of the largest gas-powered plant ever installed in Mozambique, and the second-largest power plant running exclusively on gas engines to be installed on the African continent.

The project included the construction of a substation and a gas pipeline.

The 175 MW plant is powered by 18 engines running on natural gas, with the gas fed from Sasol’s central processing facility, in Temane, in the Inhambane province.

The power plant will supply electricity to more than two-million Mozambicans. This equates to 23% of the country's current demand.

€138-million.

Duration
The gas-fired power plant is expected to reach beneficial operation in October this year.

Latest Developments
The plant was inaugurated by the President of Mozambique, Armando Guebuza, the Mozambican Minister of Energy, Salvador Namburete, the chairperson of EDM, Augusto Fernando de Sousa and the President and CEO of Sasol, David Constable at the end of August.
