Project Description
The project involves the expansion of the Buenaventura container terminal, in the City of Buenaventura, in Colombia, from an estimated 300 000 twenty-foot container equivalent units (TEUs) to 610 000 TEUs.
This will include the expansion of the container storage areas of the terminal by 6.9 ha and the construction of a new mooring hitch over the eastern side of the quay; the incorporation of additional equipment to support existing operations; as well as the dredging and extension of the width of the access channel from 84 m to 150 m and of the turning basin by 50 m, its western length by 280 m and its eastern side by 30 m.

About $157.9-million, including civil works, dredging, equipment and other investments.

The project is expected to be completed in 2015.
Latest Developments
TCBuen has approached the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for a $90-million debt package to support the expansion of the Buenaventura container terminal.
