TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Halifax, Nova Scotia-based Brigus Gold has lifted its third-quarter gold output from the Black Fox mine in Timmins, Ontario, 17% quarter-on-quarter, placing the company on track to achieve its full-year guidance.

During the quarter ended September 30, Brigus produced 27 174 oz of gold, bringing total output for the year to 76 799 oz, and sold 28 344 oz, lifting the year-to-date total to 78 652 oz.

The mine averaged a grade of 4.34 g/t gold and managed to achieve an average recovery of 94%.

The mill achieved record throughput of 2 256 t/d to mill a total of 207 559 t for the quarter.

Brigus recorded an average realised gold price of $1 330/oz, excluding the impact of sales under the gold stream agreement with Sandstorm gold. Under that agreement, Sandstorm buys 8% of the life-of-mine (LoM) gold output from Black Fox and 6.3% of the LoM gold produced from the Black Fox extension at $504/oz, having paid $32-million to acquire the stream.
