Mining and Industrial machinery supplier BMI Group’s subsidiary BMI Air has been appointed as the Southern Africa distributor for BOGE compressed air systems and related technologies.

“The BOGE compressed air range, from Germany, will complement our existing range of air and industrial products perfectly. The advancements in compressed air technology that BOGE products offer will enable us to take the lead in providing the new generation of compressed air solutions to our expanding Southern Africa market,” says BMI Group MD David Ireland.

BMI Air specialises in all aspects of compressed air systems and air treatment technologies for the mining, oil and gas, packaging, and food and beverage industries, as well as the general industrial market. “Our company, which was launched in 2007, is a growing, dynamic group which is committed to offering the best, most advanced yet competitive compressed air solutions available with  superior technical back-up. We believe in partnerships, as shown by our alliances with AAF and American Air Filter brands, Chicago Pneumatic Construction and Pirtek Fluid Transfer Solutions,” says BMI Air and Industrial sales director Guy Wilson.

BMI Air and Industrial also services clients in the diamond, iron ore, platinum, cement, water, rock processing, chemical, coal and coal mining, fertiliser and pharmaceutical industries.

“The alliance with BOGE is a perfect match. They are at the forefront of air compressor technology, particularly in Europe, which we believe Africa is ready to embrace. Our expert technical support and services, coupled with our expanding regional presence, is a reflection of our commitment to our customer base and our desire to keep abreast of advanced technological developments.

“With our head office in Bloemfontein, we have a regional presence, which extends beyond our borders to Lesotho and Namibia. However, we believe there are greater opportunities for our products and are therefore looking for sub-distributors to join us in our market and industrial sector expansion plans,” says Wilson.

The BOGE Connection and Innovations
The back-bone to BOGE’s success has been its over 100 years of pioneering innovative quality. Indeed, its trademark has been
reliable, clean compressed air. It is one of the world’s most experienced compressed air specialists and offers a range of products and services from plant engineering; heat recovery systems; screw, piston, scroll and turbo compressors; and Class O oil-free compressed air machinery and solutions.

All of these are supported by state-of-the-art technical support services which includes Boge Analytics, remote monitoring, planning and diagnostic tools backed up by extended maintenance warranties.

BMI Air have already introduced one of BOGE’s most recent innovations including the Series 4 rotary screw compressor S-4 which offers better sound efficiencies, ease of maintenance and low power consumption. It has an advanced separator technology with one of the best efficiency rates in its class with BOGE effilence ‘lntegrateDrive’ airend with easy access to components for maintenance.

“We will shortly introduce the new BOGE high speed turbo (HST), oil-free Class O variable speed drive compressor. The
compressor’s entire drive mechanism operates without any lubricants, making the compressed air 100% oil-free. The fact that fewer components are used in the HST compressor means that savings on resources and maintenance costs are achieved.

The environmentally friendly sustainable design principle benefits the customer as the HST requires less space and offers flexibility through removable and adjustable panels and components. This flexibility enables us to offer an air compressor that will meet customer precise requirements,” Wilson says.

“We will also be introducing smart glasses technology which offers technicians hands-free access to remote technical support via a small high-tech camera. Technicians will be able to share high-quality video streaming and voice communications in real time with a ‘remote’ expert for analysis and specialised assistance,” says BMI Air technical director Derek Jacobs.

“This amazing technology will revolutionise how we conduct technical support in South Africa. We are at the forefront of this advanced virtual communication concept, for which applications across industry are endless. Technical support and training is what BMI Air is renowned for in the Southern Africa market,” Jacobs adds.

Machine maintenance, service and troubleshooting history will easily be downloaded through radio frequency identification technology and all machinery will be barcoded for this purpose.

The Future Looks Smart
The addition of the BOGE range to the group’s portfolio will enable BMI to further explore opportunities within the healthcare, trucking, farming cooperatives and automotive refinishing industries.

“We at BMI Air are known for our innovative air compressor technologies, products and our customer technical support. We are excited by the introduction of the new BOGE range of air compressors and associated technology. Southern Africa is
more than ready to embrace these innovations, and we believe we are best placed to successfully modernise, service and support not only the air compressor market, but all related industries,” concludes Ireland.
