PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior gold explorer Aruma Resources has negotiated a native title access agreement for its Glandore gold project, in Western Australia.

The company reported on Wednesday that the native title access agreement allowed Aruma to start exploration drilling, after a three-year delay.

The agreement was reached after the Goldfields Land and Sea Council and the Central East Native Title Group conducted a heritage survey of the Glandore area, which allowed Aruma to conduct a 3 000 m aircon drilling programme at the project.

MD Peter Schwann told shareholders that the native title access agreement was a positive outcome for all parties, which would share in the project’s success, under a deferred production agreement, signed two years ago.

During the time Aruma has been unable to access Glandore, the company had completed a substantial amount of preliminary geological studies that could ensure a fast start when the drilling programme starts, Schwann said.

Drilling was expected to start as soon as floodwaters from the recent heavy weather receded.
