Nominations are now being accepted for the 2022 South Africa AGOA Exporter of the Year Awards.

It is hosted by the International Trade Institute of Southern Africa with the support of the USAID Southern African Trade and Investment Hub.

The awards aim to recognise and reward outstanding performance and noteworthy efforts of exporters in overcoming market entry hurdles and achieving successful and consistent trade with the US under the US African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

Award categories include small-sized exporters to the US under AGOA; medium-sized exporters to the US under AGOA; large-sized exporters to the US under AGOA; black-owned enterprise exporters to the US under AGOA; youth-owned exporters to the US under AGOA; and female-owned exporters to the US under AGOA.

An overall winner will also be chosen.

Participating businesses must be privately owned and ultimately held by citizens or residents of South Africa. Participating businesses must actively be exporting to the US under AGOA.

Nomination criteria include the extent of exports to the US under AGOA (as a percentage of total exports); innovation; market development; people and culture; strategic business practices; and AGOA eligibility of the products being exported.

The nomination submission deadline is May 31.

Interested parties can apply at https://agoaexporterawards.co.za/.

The awards ceremony and prize-giving ceremony will be a hybrid event, to take place on June 29, with the venue to be decided, and the virtual event being livestreamed on YouTube.
