It is hosted by the International Trade Institute of Southern Africa with the support of the USAID Southern African Trade and Investment Hub.

The awards aim to recognise and reward outstanding performance and noteworthy efforts of exporters in overcoming market entry hurdles and achieving successful and consistent trade with the US under the US African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

An overall winner will also be chosen.

Participating businesses must be privately owned and ultimately held by citizens or residents of South Africa. Participating businesses must actively be exporting to the US under AGOA.

Nomination criteria include the extent of exports to the US under AGOA (as a percentage of total exports); innovation; market development; people and culture; strategic business practices; and AGOA eligibility of the products being exported.

The nomination submission deadline is May 31.
