Office and Oil Field Service Supply Base strategically located to support Eastern Malaysian Peninsula and Borneo .GAC Malaysia has today opened a new office in Labuan, Malaysia, to provide strategic support to the offshore oil and gas sector across the Eastern Malaysian Peninsula and Borneo. The company is part of the GAC Group, one of the world’s leading providers of shipping, logistics and offshore support services.

The opening of the new office is in response to increased demand for complex support services as Malaysia’s offshore oil & gas sector continues to grow and diversify. Due in large part to significant investment in new field development, output across Malaysia is expected to reach new highs before the end of the decade.

Strategically located near customs and port facilities, the Labuan city office provides customer support services including ship agency, general sea & air freight forwarding, heavy lift and project logistics in coordination with its existing operations at GAC’s Oil Field Service Supply Base on Labuan’s main island.

John Tansey, GAC Malaysia’s Managing Director, says: “This is a very important development for GAC’s operations across Malaysia and we are confident that it will enable us to add further value to our customers’ operations. The office is close to our customers’ operational activities offshore, enabling real time solutions to critical requirements. We have purposely located the Labuan office next to the customs and port facilities, enabling us to provide efficient and cost effective solutions, as well as on-the-ground support.”

Captain Dan Hjalmarsson, GAC’s Group Vice President – Asia Pacific, adds: “There is a considerable impetus towards further growth and development of Malaysia as a leading energy hub in Asia and it is critical that we are in the best position to respond to increased demand for our services here. We have invested heavily, both in terms of developing our own infrastructure and human capital in Labuan and across Malaysia, and continue to work closely with our customers to ensure that we are doing everything to deliver their strategy and improve their operational capabilities both locally and worldwide.”

The GAC Labuan office was officially opened by Captain Hjalmarsson and John Tansey at a ceremony attended by customers, staff and suppliers this week.

The Group has a strong presence in the offshore sector worldwide, providing a wide range of offshore support services for exploration, construction and production through to decommissioning of rigs, as well as supplementary services including ship supply and bunkering through to crew travel services. GAC operates in every major offshore market.
