Construction of the R45-million extension of Centenary road in Modderfontein, in Ekurhuleni, has been completed.

The 2-km-long road, which was built and designed by Zendai Property Developments South Africa, was built in two phases, with the first connecting Modderfontein to the Linbro area and the second connecting Centenary to High Street, in Modderfontein.

“This project is one of our first and is an important milestone for the envisioned development of the Modderfontein area,” said Zendai Developments South Africa CEO Anthony Diepenbroek.

He noted that the road offered an alternate access route to Modderfontein and would alleviate congestion on internal roads, as well as the N3, by serving as a main access point to the proposed Modderfontein Gautrain station.

Diepenbroek added that Modderfontein’s strategic location and direct linkages to OR Tambo International Airport and the Ekurhuleni Aerotropolis provided the opportunity to accommodate land use activities relating to the freight and logistics market.
