JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Following “an extensive and thorough” process, which included the review of technical information, site inspections and public consultations, the Zambia Environmental Management Agency has approved the environmental-impact study (EIS) for ASX-listed Zambezi Resources’ Mpande limestone project.

With the approval of the EIS, the Mines Development Department was now expected to grant a mining licence for the project at the next Mines Department Advisory Committee meeting later this month.

The Mpande project is a 50:50 joint venture between Mpande Limestone, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zambezi, and Limestone Ventures.

Drilling results from the project had confirmed a large limestone deposit of high-quality material, suitable for industrial applications, including lime and cement production.
