JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – A winch operator for contractor JIC has died after a fall of ground in a stope panel on January 8 at Royal Bafokeng Platinum’s (RBPlat’s) Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine (BRPM).

All normal underground operations have been suspended at North Shaft of BRPM pending a full investigation into the incident that had claimed the life of Amelio Paquete.

RBPlat, extending its sincere condolences to Paqute’s family and friends, reiterated the mine’s commitment to the safety of its workforce.
