Work starts at Dolphin
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Group 6 Metals has started construction at the Dolphin tungsten mine, in Tasmania.
“Today is a momentous day for the company, following many years of hard work by the team to reach this point. We will be keeping shareholders and the wider market updated regularly now that our construction programme has commenced in earnest,” said executive chairperson Johann Jacobs.
A previously completed economic analysis of the Dolphin project estimated that some A$65-million would need to be invested to bring the opencut operation into production to produce 20 t/y of tungsten over an eight-year mine life.
Group 6 Metals earlier this month reported shareholder approval and full funding had been achieved to allow for operations at Dolphin to start.
Plant commissioning at Dolphin is targeted for the end of 2022, with first concentrate shipment targeted for the March quarter of 2023.
